Honoring a Legacy

The Center for Structured Literacy was established through the generosity of Joe Kanfer in loving memory of his wife, Pam Kanfer, a lifelong advocate for literacy and a champion for students with dyslexia and other reading challenges. With an unwavering commitment to teaching struggling readers and equipping educators with evidence-based practices, she transformed countless lives and was instrumental in creating statewide policies for students with dyslexia. This center continues her legacy by advancing research, training teachers, and ensuring that all children —especially those with reading challenges—have the opportunity to succeed.

We are deeply grateful for this gift, which will empower generations of educators and learners. Through this center, Pam Kanfer’s passion lives on, creating a lasting impact in classrooms and communities, and bringing the hope of literacy to those who need it most.
